Mrs. Louel Heggie Rose, 94, of Winston-Salem, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on November 10, 2025.
Louel was born on February 21, 1931, in Forsyth County to the late Mr. Dewey A. Heggie and Mrs. Nettie Atkins Heggie. She graduated from Baptist Hospital in 1952 with a bachelor’s degree in nursing and went on to enjoy a long and meaningful career as a Registered Nurse, faithfully serving others for over 50 years.
A devoted member of Ardmore Baptist Church, Louel shared her love for the Lord through music, teaching, and fellowship. She sang in the choir, taught Vacation Bible School, and led many Bible study groups over the years. She was a devout Christian who knew the Bible through and through and was always ready to share scripture and words of encouragement to all.
She was also known for her many talents and joyful spirit. A skilled seamstress, she could make just about anything with her hands. She was also a professional shopper, always ready for a shopping trip and never one to miss a good find.
Her family saw her as the definition of love and grace; she was smart, kind, and endlessly devoted. She embodied the roles as wife, mother, and “Moma Lou” and they were the heart of who she was. Always strong in faith, full of grace, and loved by all who knew her.
Louel loved God deeply, loved people sincerely, and lived her life as a true disciple of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband of 65 years, Fredrick Carroll Rose; a son, Michael Rose; and one brother, D.A Heggie.
Cherishing her memory is her loving daughter, Annette Hester (Ray); six grandchildren, Elizabeth (Charlie), Donald (Kelly), Jeffrey (Krystal), Eric, Ian, and Kyle; many great grandchildren, many great-great grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Susie Rose, and a host of extended family members.
A funeral service will take place on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, beginning at 2:00pm with Rev. Dr. Rick Jordan officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ardmore Baptist Church, 501 Miller Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is respectfully serving the family.
