Mr. Louis Edward ""Bee"" Bennett, Jr., passed away, Thursday, November 17, 2016, while he was enjoying playing golf with his friends. He was born in Forsyth County to the late Ethel and Louis Bennett, Sr. Mr. Bennett proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired from AT&T with 30 years of service. Mr. Bennett was an active member of Bethany Baptist Church and the Berean Sunday School class. Peggy and Louis spent 26 wonderful years in Lakeland, FL during the winter months, where he enjoyed playing golf and shuffle board with his friends. Peggy and Louis were avid square dancers and travelled extensively throughout the United States and Europe. Louis' hobbies were beekeeping and building kayaks. He and his son enjoyed whitewater canoeing, camping, hiking, and many other outdoor activities. Mr. Bennett was a quiet man always thinking of others before himself and will be sorely missed by his family and many friends. Louis is survived by his wife of 63 wonderful years, Peggy Dymott Bennett; one son, Rick Bennett (Karen) of Bozeman, Montana; one sister, Edna Eaton; one brother, Emil Bennett; sister-in-law, Bonnie Taylor (Joe); one nephew, Paul Ivey (Michele); and two great-nephews, Jack and Ben Ivey. A celebration of Mr. Bennett's life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 21, at Bethany Baptist Church with Dr. Brad Stamey officiating. The burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Bethany Baptist Church, 600 Old Hollow Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
