KERNERSVILLE-Louis Lee Lyles, 91, passed away Monday, January 11, 2016 at the NC State Veterans Home in Salisbury. He was born October 9, 1924 in Keysville, VA to the late Frank and Minnie Stirewalt Lyles. Louis was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Concord and a WWII Navy Veteran. He retired after 28 years of service with Pilot Freight. Louis enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his grandchildren who were so precious to him. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years, Joyce Underhill Lyles; second wife of 11 years, Janie Queen Lyles; five sisters and seven brothers. Surviving are his children, Wayne (Brenda) Lyles, Jerry (Danette) Lyles and Patricia (Scott) Brooks; grandchildren- Shea (Jason) Rice, Matthew (Heather) Brooks, Mark (Cassandra) Brooks; great-grandchildren- Spencer Calloway, Alana Rice, Kamden Rice and Emma Brooks; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Jerry Sands officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103 or American Cancer Society, 4-A Oak Branch Dr., Greensboro, NC 27407.
