Louis Winters

Louis Ziggmond Winters, 88, of Winston Salem, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2018 following a period of declining health.

Louis was born on May 22, 1930 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Albert W. Wiatrowski and Elizabeth Kathryn Wrzefniewfka. His parents immigrated from Poland to Pennsylvania where Louis was born. They moved to S.C. where Louis lived until he relocated to Winston-Salem. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. He had worked for Western Electric for over thirty years before his retirement. Louis was an active member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church and in his free time, enjoyed traveling and hiking on the Blue Ridge Parkway. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Anthony Wiatrowski, Edward Winters and Thomas Winters; sister, Helen Winters Nain; and grandson, Kevin Winters.

Louis is survived by his wife, Jean Burton Winters; son, Ricky Allen Winters and wife Donna; stepchildren, Stephen Burton and wife Brenda and Marty McCarn and husband Johnny; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; special niece and nephew, Kathryn Stone and Arleigh Nain; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 1 PM at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church Columbarium. A celebration of life will be held in the church fellowship hall following the inurnment.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, 3543 Robinhood Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
