Mrs. Mable Louise Cash Farrow, 82, the wife of the Reverend Dr. Donald M. Farrow, passed away Friday the 27th of October. Louise has been married for 60 years, and the mother of three children; Marc R. Farrow of Lexington, Laura Farrow of Christiansburg, Virginia, and Patrick K. Farrow of Brown Summit, NC. Louise was the grandmother of four grandchildren; Jeremy McBride, Whitney McBride, Nina Farrow, and Kelsey Dann. Louise was the daughter of Lottie Mae Cash and S.S. Cash of Wilmington, NC.
As a child she was known as "Sweetie". She attended New Hanover High School and was elected to the National Honor Society before she graduated. After high school Louise attended Mars Hill College before transferring to Wake Forest College, and received her B.A. degree in 1957. Louise was also a freelance writer and her stories and articles were published in Woman's Day Magazine, McCall's Magazine, and Weekly Reader. During her many years of serving with her husband in churches, she also taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. Louise was a dedicated Christian who loved and served her Lord all of her life. She also had a strong desire to share what she had with others. She established a social outreach effort to assist improver ship, African American families in the small community of Earl, NC.
On one occasion she wrote a published article that expressed the kind of person she was, a caring and giving person who was willing to share with others. The very title of the article was "Don't Deprive me of the Joy of Sharing." The article appeared in the October 18, 1977 issue of The Woman's Day Magazine.
I thank God for her sharing her life with me these past 60 years of Christian Service.
A Funeral service will be held 2:00pm Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends 1 hour before. Committal will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
