Mrs. Louise G. Johnston, 96, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 11, 2016.

Louise was born July 24, 1920 in Tazewell, VA to the late William Green and Mary Alley Green. She worked for many years as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Baptist Hospital and then for Senior Services, where she continued to work well in her 80s. She attended Pinedale Christian Church. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her sons, Marshall Whitt and Ronnie Whitt.

Louise is survived by her children, Anthony Constable of Winston-Salem, Barbara Bennett and husband Greg of Flat Rock, NC, Zachary Johnston and wife Leann of Clemmons, Alfred Whitt and wife Dottie of Richmond, VA, Cecelia Stone-Laney and husband Trocey of Tazewell, VA, and Rebecca Carpenter and husband Dr. Robert Carpenter of Columbus, GA; more than 20 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Rachel Green Charsee of Verona, VA.

A celebration of Louise's life will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 2 pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
