Ms. Louise Bunker Southern, 83, formally of Winston-Salem entered heaven’s gate Sunday, July 24, 2022 at her daughters home in Huntersville, NC. Ms. Southern was born in Surry County (Mount Airy) to the late Annie Dell and John Spach Bunker on July 31, 1938. She was a graduate of Guilford College then went on to work for RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company for 29 years before retirement. Louise was a long-time member of Hanes United Methodist Church. There she loved to sing in the choir, stay involved in church activities and give back to her community through various charities. She enjoyed watching NASCAR, feeling the ocean breeze and visiting the mountains. Her favorite time was spent traveling with her daughter Susan on many trips that include the Grand Canyon and Bahamas. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, her first husband Henry L. Wilkes and former husband Joe Southern. She left behind her one and only devoted daughter Susan Wilkes. A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday July 27, 2022 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Craig Ford officiating. There is no stated visitation.
