Mrs. Lovie Hickman Lawson, 105, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Lovie was born October 31, 1912 in Rockingham Co. to the late Howard and Nannie Hickman. She retired from Hanes Knitting and was a longtime member of Burkhead United Methodist Church. In her free time, Lovie enjoyed yard work, but was known as the fashionista in her family. She was always dressed to the nines with her hair and makeup done. She was married for 55 years to her husband, Posey Lawson, who precedes her in death. In addition to her husband and parents, Lovie was preceded in death by her sisters, Eva Hickman, Chris Weatherman, and Blanche Hoffman, and her brother, Bill Hickman.
Lovie is survived by her daughter, Peggy Johnson and husband Kemble of Bowling Green, KY; son, Ed Lawson of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Frederica Bosemer; Teresa Williams and husband Bill, Warren Johnson and wife Mandi, David Johnson and wife Jennifer, and Richard Johnson; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her devoted caregiver, Cindy Jacobs. A graveside service will be held Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 1:30 PM at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 12 -1 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Burkhead UMC, 5250 Silas Creek Pkwy, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
