Lt. Colonel William R. 'Bill' Coulter

Lt. Colonel (Ret.) William R. (Bill) Coulter was born in Statesville, NC December 27, 1932 to John C. Coulter and Margaret Redman Coulter. He moved to Winston-Salem at age 5 and attended Sedge Garden School through grade 7. He then grew up in the Griffith School community and graduated from Griffith School in 1951. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in June 1951 and served as a pilot in several areas of East and Southeast Asia and areas of the U.S. until he retired in 1973. He was married to Naomi Ruth Miller in July 1953. He graduated from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa with a B.S. in Computer Science and followed with a career at Chrysler Motor Co. until retirement in 1993. He is survived by his wife, Ruth M. Coulter, three daughters, Lynda Hobson of Winston-Salem, Vicky Williams of Huntsville, AL, Carol Robinson of Charlotte and one son, William R. Coulter, Jr. of Huntsville, AL. He has 6 grandchildren and one great-grandson. He resided in Elkmont, Al, until his death. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted 1:00 pm Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Friedberg Moravian Church with the Rev. James C. Newsome, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard with full military honors. The family will receive friends following the service in the Family Life Center.
