Mrs. Lucielle H Oliver, 94, moved to her eternal home July 18, 2018. Born March 17, 1924, she lived most of her life in Winston-Salem before moving to Charlotte to be nearer her children in 1992 following the death of her beloved husband of 43 years, Charles Lewis Oliver.
She was also preceded in death by parents, R.F. Helderman and Pearl Flowers Helderman; her siblings, John A. Helderman, Mildred H. Jordan and Ralph A. Helderman; and grandson, Lewis E. Gilbert.
She was a master at balancing activities in scouting and schools, the church and gardening while working in the family business (Oliver's Dry Cleaners) and as a Registered Nurse.
Lucielle trained at NC Baptist Hospital, currently known as Wake Forest Medical Center. She was readying to practice as a cadet nurse during WWII at Lawson General in Atlanta when the war ended. Her nursing career spanned many facets of medicine. Despite her retired status, the adage "once a nurse, always a nurse" held true as she practiced guidance of personnel involved in her care and looking after others best interests.
She championed at keeping in contact with friends and relatives with cards and letters, remembering birthdays, anniversaries, holidays and giving lifting thoughts.
Lucielle gave her life to Christ at an early age and spread the word from that day. She was a prayer warrior and devoted reader/studier of the Bible. The glow of Christ shown in her face. She was a lover of Hymns and poetry.
She is survived by her children, David E. Oliver and wife Kathy and Martha O. Gilbert and husband John; grandsons, Matthew and John and wife Ashley; and great grandchildren, Quinn and Camdyn; as well as a number of nieces and nephews and their families.
A service of Remembrance will be held Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Hayworth Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Dr. Matt Farabow officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. She will rest at Forsyth Memorial Park aside her husband, parents and a brother.
