Lucy Burke

Lucy Dean Livengood Burke, 89, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born February 16, 1929 in Forsyth County to the late Charlie William and Rosser Faircloth Livengood. She was a member of Boyer's Chapel Church of Christ and was retired from Western Electric with 34 years of loyal service. Lucy was a lifelong lover of basketball, playing in high school and the city league after graduation. She was feisty on the court and had a mean hook shot. Later in life, she became "Timmy" Duncan of the San Antonio Spurs biggest fan. She would even stay up late to watch the late games on the west coast. Lucy was a gifted quilter whose quilts appeared in magazines and won awards. Her greatest accomplishment was being a loving wife to Wake and mother to Tony and her devotion to her family and friends. Preceding her in death was a sister, Laura Lee Livengood Griffith. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, T. Wake Burke; son, Tony A. Burke and wife, Vanessa of Winston-Salem; niece, Deamie Fulk and husband, Roger of King and extended family. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel with Mr. Joel Morris and Mr. David Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:45 -1:45 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clemmons Village II, 6441 Holder Rd. Clemmons, NC 27012, ATTN: Residents Activity Program.
