Luise Leonard

Luise Maria Roos Leonard, age 91, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 31, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born on April 22, 1935, in Heidelberg, Germany. In 1958, she married the love of her life, Donald Wayne Leonard, in Germany. Together they began a life of adventure as they moved to the United States while he proudly served in the United States Army. They built a loving home together and raised two sons, Mike and Patrick.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Wayne Leonard, who passed away in 2016 at the age of 79.

A devoted nurse, Luise served as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Intensive Care Unit at Forsyth Memorial Hospital, where she compassionately cared for countless patients and families throughout her career. Caring for others was not simply her profession—it was who she was.

Her Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her life. As a devoted and active member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, she found strength, peace, and purpose through her faith in God. She faithfully served her parish community and lived each day with grace, compassion, humility, and a servant’s heart, offering love and kindness to everyone she met.

More than anything, she cherished her family. She found great joy in baking for those she loved, and her hands were rarely still, creating beautiful crocheted and knitted gifts that will continue to warm the hearts and homes of those fortunate enough to receive them. She lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, quiet strength, and a willingness to help anyone in need.

She is survived by her beloved sons, Mike Leonard and Patrick Leonard.

She was a proud and loving grandmother to Kristi, Travis Leonard, Holly Scott (husband Wesley), and Nicholas Siburt.

She was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren: Makayla, Kaylyin, Taylon, Cain, Landon Leonard (wife Lauren), Peyton (Cayden), Audrey (Taylor), Samantha (Josh), Raegan, and Emma.

She was especially delighted to become a great-great-grandmother to Leni, daughter of Landon and Lauren Leonard.

She also leaves behind many extended family members, cherished friends, and her beloved church family, all of whom will forever treasure her memory.

A Funeral Mass celebrating her life will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church.

Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort in knowing she lived a life of purpose, compassion, steadfast faith, and unwavering love. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the lives she touched through her nursing, her faithful service to God and her church, and the countless acts of kindness she quietly shared throughout her lifetime.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in our hearts.
