Mrs. Lura Ann Creasman Winters, 66, of High Point, NC, was called home to be with God on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro, NC. Mrs. Winters was born on October 30, 1945 to the late Albert Wayne and Ida Plummer Creasman in Muscogee County, Georgia. Lura ""Ann"" Winters was married on February 14, 1964 to her beloved husband (and caretaker throughout her illness), James Gary Winters. They shared a lasting love and dedication to one another and family for those 48 years together. After God, her love belonged to family. She managed her duties as a mother and homemaker while utilizing her many, God given, talents with success. Although her gifts were many, perhaps she was most recognized for her skills as a caterer for The Women's Club of High Point, NC and her repeat customers from The High Point Furniture Market. In addition to her cooking skills, she worked as a nurse's aide in High Point. Ann was always a blessing to family, friends, and neighbors in times of trouble by taking on what was asked of her. She provided many wonderful meals for the sick, or anyone she knew in need. She loved the ocean, Christian music, the Arts, cooking, gardening, flowers, nature, and each of the family pets that she considered family members. Ann was a talented artist with many of her beautiful paintings hanging either in the family home, or in homes of friends and family members. Sadly, a long suffered illness prevented her from leaving her home to live as she loved for the past several years. Preceding Mrs. Winters in death along with her parents are a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Winters; a sister, Vicki; her mother-in-law, Crystal Moore; and two step-brothers, Wayne and Bill Wood. Surviving Mrs. Winters are her husband of 48 years, James Gary Winters of the home; two sons, James Garfield Winters (Lynn) of Kernersville, NC and Joseph Winters of the home; five grandchildren, Jessica Bickar (Neil) of New York, Sarah Winters of Kernersville, NC, Christina Winters of Kernersville, NC, Joshua Albert of New York, and David Winters of Ohio; four great-grandchildren, Trinity Bickar of New York, Michael Bicker of New York, Karsyn Winters of Ohio, and Aubree Winters of Ohio; her step-mother, Arie Creasman of Winston-Salem, two step-brothers, Steve Woods of Winston-Salem and Roger Woods of Winston-Salem; her father-in-law, Norman Moore of Winston-Salem; two brothers-in-law, Steve Winters and family of Winston-Salem and Mike Moore and family of Belhaven, NC; one sister-in-law, Ann Moore of Winston-Salem; and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 6, 2012 at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 4580 South Main St., Winston-Salem, NC 27107 with Pastor Timothy Day officiating. Burial will follow the service at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 5, 2012 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Lura's contributions to this world will be remembered and appreciated by the many lives she touched while on this Earth. Rest in Heavenly peace where we shall once again meet!
