Luther Akers, Jr.

Mr. Luther Duane Akers Jr., 60, of Winston-Salem passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Trellis Supportive Care. Mr. Akers was born in Wythe County, Virginia to Luther Duane Akers Sr. and Mamie Jackson Akers on August 5, 1958. He was a veteran of The United States Army and in the National Guard. He enjoyed the beach and going to the races. He also liked working on diesel trucks. Luther was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Marie Akers; daughter, Alisha Akers; mother, Mamie Jackson Akers; sister, Mary Locklear. He is survived by his children, Daniel Akers, Matthew Akers and Brian Gravley; nine grandchildren; brothers, David Akers and wife Tammy; Billy Akers and wife Brenda; sisters, Katherine and Debra Akers.
