Lydia Binkley Wright

Mrs. Lydia Delle Binkley Wright, 82, of Clemmons, NC passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born January 16, 1942 in Forsyth County, NC to William Thomas Binkley and Edna Leona Vogler Binkley. She attended Lewisville School and graduated from Southwest High School with the class of 1960 where she was an honor graduate. Lydia received her B.S. in Home Economics from Harding College (now Harding University) in Searcy, Arkansas. She taught one year in Long Island, NY at Patchogue Junior High School, then taught at Southwest and later retired from Carver High School. Lydia married David William Wright on August 19, 1966 in Winston-Salem, NC. She is survived by one daughter, Laura Leanne Wright Jackson and two grandsons, Corporal Edward Fitzgerald Jackson, Jr. and wife, Angie and Kaleb Wright. Also surviving are her brother, Thomas Esker Binkley of Willamsport, PA; a sister, Leona Carol Binkley Carruth and husband David of Amarillo, TX; several nieces, nephews, cousins and one aunt, Cleave Binkley. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel. Interment will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends one hour before the service.
