Mable De Ette Martin Langhurst

Our beloved mother, Mable De Ette Martin Langhurst, 89, went to be with our Lord on July 8, 2016. Mrs. Langhurst was born in Forsyth County to the late Glenn and Maggie Martin on October 12, 1926. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Otto Carl Langhurst; two sons, Richard Lee Langhurst and Stephen Wayne Langhurst; two brothers, Albert Martin and Clarence Martin, two sisters, Eva Rakestraw and Dolly Pardue; and one son-in-law, Roger Mullis. Surviving are four daughters, Beverly L. Casper (husband Rubin) of Kernersville, Carolyn L. Green of Yadkinville, Marilyn L. Mullis of Roaring River, and Michele L. Mullis (husband Gray) of Yadkinville; 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren; special nephew, James Morelli; and her constant companion, Chico. Mable was a graduate of Gray High School of Winston-Salem. In 1945, Mable and Otto were married and proceeded to have six children and continued to enjoy 68 years of sharing their lives together. Mable was a Christian of the Baptist Faith and led Otto to Christ. She retired from Western Electric with 43 years of loyal service. She loved the outdoors and spent years working on her yard and landscaping. She was an avid bowler and golfer, both of which she enjoyed doing with friends and family. She also loved her dogs, they were very special to her. Her love and generosity was felt by many and she will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank Hospice for their kind and gentle treatment of their mother, allowing her to stay at home surrounded by her family whom she meant so much to. A funeral service will be held at 9:00am on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 11, 2016, from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
