Madeleine Austin O'Connor

Madeleine Austin O’Connor, 87, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Monday, February 19, 2024 with her loving husband by her side, holding her hand.

Madeleine was born on July 14, 1936 in Pointe du Lac, Quebec, Canada to the late Pierre and M. Blanche “Laide” Austin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three brothers and three sisters.

Madeleine is survived by her husband of 67 years, Paul O’Connor; son, Patrick O’Connor and wife Myong Hui of Florida; daughter, Christine Walden of Salisbury; and Kathleen Boyd and husband Darren of Winston-Salem. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Paul O’Connor (Heather) of Arizona and Jason Walden (Mindy) of Woodleaf, Stephanie Gault (Derek) of Lake Norman, Kimberly Odendahl (Teddy), Brooke Nooe (Eric) and Brianna Boyd (Winston) all of Winston-Salem; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Brooke and Bree O’Connor, Madison, Tristan and Cameron Gault, Liam, Wyatt, Theo and Izzy Odendahl and Emilia Nooe; great-great-grandchildren, Sophia and Madeleine Edwards. 

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 4:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with Rev. Tim Wolfe officiating. A reception and time of visitation will immediately follow in the Robert F. Miller Center at Hayworth-Miller.
