Madeline Ananew

Mrs. Madeline Butner Slate Ananew, 98, passed away Sunday, August 05, 2018 at her home. She was born in Stokes Co. on July 11, 1920 the daughter of the late Dolphus C. Butner and Mary Augusta Fulk Butner. Mrs. Ananew was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of Capella Church of Christ and Poplar Springs Church of Christ. She was involved in many ministries at both churches, including Bible School Teacher, Ladies Mission Group, member of the choir and delivered tapes to shut ins. Mrs. Ananew loved her daily devotions, bible study and ministering to others. She was a faithful and loving neighbor, enjoyed her flower gardens, baking and sharing with others. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, DeWitt Slate; her second husband, Al Ananew; a grandson, DeVerne Slate; three brothers, D.F., Tom and Mack; and three sisters, Lelah, Esther and Dorothy. She is survived by two sons, Horace A. Slate (Carol) of Clemmons and Kenneth W. Slate (Sherry) of Bluff Dale, TX; grandchildren, Melanie, Joy, Michelle, Chad and Misty; 9 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Poplar Springs Church of Christ in King with Don Wallace, Minister and Ralph Sproles, Minister officiating. Burial will follow in Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery in King. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 prior to the service at Poplar Springs Church of Christ. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Liberty Home Health Services & Hospice, 1007 Lexington Ave., Thomasville, NC 27360. The family would like to extend a special thank you to, Michelle Butner Gabb (Niece and caregiver) and Sharon, Kristina, Carol, Denise, Kati and Wendy who were caregivers from Liberty Home Health Services & Hospice.
