Madeline Perrou Blizard

Mary Madeline Perrou Blizard, 99, of Clemmons, North Carolina diied on December 5, 2014.

She was born March 10, 1915 in Valdese, North Carolina to the late Augustus Francois and Jeanne Pons Perrou. Her parents came to America in 1893 with the second group of Waldensians to settle in Valdese, North Carolina.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jimmie F. Blizard; sisters, Anita West, Clementine Butler, and Adeline Murray; and brothers, Stephen, Albert, and Ernest Perrou.

Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn B. Drum (Perry) of Lenoir and Judy Triplett of Winston-Salem; daughter-in-law, Sarah Y. Blizard of Clemmons, North Carolina; two sisters, Peggy P. Verreault (John) of Anderson, South Carolina and Josephine P. Yoder of Pensacola, Florida; one brother, Benjamin Perrou of Valdese; seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.

Ms. Blizard was a member of Konnoak Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. She was also a charter member of the ""Crickets Nest"", an arts and crafts guild in Winston-Salem. Madeline loved to draw and paint, and she made beautiful clay pottery by hand. Making cloth dolls was another of her artistic gifts. Madeline loved sharing her arts and crafts with family and friends, and many people benefited from her generosity.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff and caregivers of Clemmons Village II for their many years of service and care.

Graveside services were held Sunday, December 7, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Parklawn Memorial Park, 2730 Peters Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, North Carolina 27127.

Memorials may be made to Waldensian Heritage Museum, 208 Rodoret Street, Valdese, NC 28690.

The family is being served by Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, 3315 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
