Mae Carter Kiger

Mrs. Mae Carter Kiger, 89, passed away April 28, 2023.  She was born July 20, 1933 in Forsyth County to the late Grover Thomas Carter and Altie Mae Pegram Carter.  Mae attended Freedom Baptist Church as long as she could drive.  She enjoyed gardening and baking throughout the day.  One of her talents was sewing and quilting.  She made quilts for most of her grandchildren.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, and will be dearly missed by her family.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. Kiger, one brother, two sisters, and two grandchildren.  She is survived by her five children, Gail Slate (Clifford), Donna Mabe, Johnnie Mae Marsh (Bobby), Junior Kiger (Christine), and Charles Kiger (Jennifer); 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, and one brother, Sidney Carter.  A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday, May 1, 2023 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Pastor Jon White officiating.  Interment will follow at 12:30 PM at Westlawn Gardens of Memory.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 AM.
