Mr. Malcolm Douglas Cooke, 62, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017 with his wife by his side. Doug was born September 8, 1954 in Forsyth County to Max and Ruth Cooke. He was a member of Fairview Moravian Church and worked in real estate for 35 years. He was also a member of the Winston-Salem Real Estate Association and a Paul Harris Fellow. In his free time, Doug loved to go to the beach where he previously lived and worked in real estate. He enjoyed playing golf in his spare time. In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by an adopted sister, Lynne and his biological brothers, Ricky Welborn and Randy Welborn. Doug is survived by his wife, Katherine Cooke; special mother in law, Connie Davis; step-daughter, Kristen Carter; daughter, Jennifer Prince and husband Edward; grandchildren, EJ Prince, Stella Prince and Thaddeus Carter; sister, Donna Welborn; brothers, Scotty Welborn and wife Becky and Stoney Welborn; special friend, Sandra Wrenn; and best friends, Kent and Kay Dunn and Blair Flintom. A celebration of Doug's life will be held Friday, September 1, 2017 at 2 pm at Fairview Moravian Church, 6550 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, with Rev. Scott Venable officiating. Burial will follow the service at Salem Moravian Graveyard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church parlor. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Fairview Moravian Church General Fund, 6550 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
