Mamie Hayes Rutledge

Mrs. Mamie Lee Hayes Rutledge, 86, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Priddy Manor Assisted Living in King. She was born October 21, 1927 in Alexander Co. the daughter of the late Charlie and Jennie Carson Hayes. Mrs. Rutledge was a member of First Baptist Church of Stanleyville and was retired from Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center as a histology supervisor. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Charles H. Rutledge, two daughters, Vicki Marx (Rick) and Sharon Patterson (Randy), two grandchildren, Jonathan Marx (Ashley) and Brooke Johnson (Charles), two great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Philip Marx. Mrs. Rutledge is also survived by three sisters, Lessie Moser, Ruth Vaden and Ethel Stafford, one brother, Ralph Hayes and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March12, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with Rev. Eddie Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: First Baptist Church of Stanleyville, 851 Ziglar Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27105 or Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Stokes Co. Office, P.O. Box 863, Walnut Cove, NC 27052.
