Marciano Castillo, Sr.

With heavy hearts, the Castillo family regrets to inform you of the passing of our beloved Marciano Eda Castillo Sr. On Thursday, July 21, 2022, at 7:00 am EST Marciano passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 76 in Winston-Salem, NC. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, Marciano managed his illness with strength and grace and wanted to spend as much time with his loved ones as possible. On his final day, he was surrounded by his loved ones, who he adored more than anything else in the world.

Marciano was born in Ilagan Isabela, Philippines to Francisco and Victoria Eda Castillo. He grew up in a loving family with four brothers and two sisters. As a teen, he loved spending his time playing outdoors with his friends and watching basketball. As he got older, he attended Harvarian University in Davao City Philippines where he gained a Bachelor of Science in Criminology. This sparked his passion towards an award-filled 32-year career as a Philippine National Police officer and then Senior Inspector.  He was a brave, heroic man that always took a leadership role, including Grand Master Guardian Brotherhood and Sisterhood.

He met the love of his life, his wife Gloria Tan and started a family, complete with six children. As a family they enjoyed time together with lots of laughter until Gloria passed away in May 2014 and Marciano moved to the United States of America. Being a kind and dependable father was of the utmost importance to Marciano and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family.

Marciano is survived by his daughter Elena (Gary) Daguplo, daughter Hazel (Bunn) Amante, son Marciano T. (Arlene) Castillo Jr., son Carlos Castillo, son Anthony Castillo, daughter Daisylou Castillo, granddaughters Abygail Daguplo, Charlene Daguplo, Glorivic B. Castillo, Mary Joy Castillo, grandson Denzel Amante, Kent Thyrone Castillo, Kenneth John Castillo, and Daze Marcian Castillo, brother Alberto Castillo and his sister Josefina Cornesto. He was preceded in passing by his wife Gloria Tan Castillo, his brothers Solomon Castillo, Bernardino Castillo, Felix Castillo, his sister Lucia Castillo.

Our family would like to thank everyone who has loved our father and who help us grieve his loss now.  We thank the caring team at Trellis Supportive Care for helping Marciano stay comfortable during his last few months before he went with God.

As we grieve and miss Marciano, we pray for peace knowing that he is at rest with his beloved Gloria and no longer battling cancer.

The viewing and funeral service will be held at the Hayworth- Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem, NC on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at 3:00 pm EST. His family will be present to welcome loved ones and all those who want to pay their last respects.

In honor of his final wish to be with his wife, Marciano will be traveling home to his final resting place by her side in Davao City, Philippines.
