Margaret Smith Chrismon

Mrs. Margaret Smith Chrismon, 91, joined her Lord on Monday, July 17, 2017. Margaret was born in Beaufort County, on April 14, 1926, to Ellen Chauncey and Heber Allen Smith, Sr. Margaret was selected her senior year of high school to work for the FBI under Edgar Allen Hoover. She married Herbert in 1947, they would have been married for 70 years this September. She was the oldest of seven children and the pillar of the family, whom she loved dearly. In her past-time she loved flowers and birds and loved reading scriptures. She was a long time member of Oaklawn Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Bonita Denise Chrismon; four brothers; Lewdrew, Jay Cee, Tommy, and Mike; and two sisters; Bernice and Marlene. Surviving are her loving husband, Herbert Chrismon; two daughters, Gail and Chris (Kevin); one son, Al (Melissa); seven grandchildren; Jim, Scott (Leslie), Shad, Michelle, Dawn, Paul (Christy) and Adam; six great-grandchildren; Hailee, Dylan, Tyler, Landon, Katara and Evelyn; one great-great-granddaughter; Paisley; one brother, Heber Allen Smith (Linda); and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Oaklawn Baptist Church with Pastor Jay Boyce officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Friday, July 21, 2017, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek.
