Margaret Hofawger

Mrs. Margaret Lee Poff Hofawger, 91, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018. She was born April 26, 1927 in Roanoke, VA to the late Grifton Andy Poff and Effie Lee Brown Poff. In her early years, during WWII, Margaret worked in both a sewing factory and a factory that produced tires for the military. She later became the manager for the Salem Virginia VA Hospital Credit Union before working as a realtor for 10 years. Margaret was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church and enjoyed painting, coloring, word puzzles, and playing solitaire. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Lee Hofawger; two brothers, Norris Poff and William Poff; and two sisters, Peggy Walters and Everlene Altice. Margaret is survived by two daughters, Brenda LaPrade (Danny) and Tena Edmondson (Steve); four grandchildren: Daniel S. LaPrade Jr. (Teressa), Dana Beck (Joseph), Tony Patterson Jr. (Ashley), and Crystal Patterson; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Marlene Moore, Carolyn Blackwell (Robert), and Barbara Bradford (Roger). A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Pastor Joe Beck and Rev. Dr. Bobby Altice officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
