Margaret Kerner Burke

Mrs. Margaret Kerner Burke, 99, of Kernersville, NC, passed away at her residence on December 22, 2025. Margaret was born in Forsyth County on January 4, 1926, to the late Robah B. Kerner and Susan Gentry Kerner. She was the great-great-great granddaughter of Joseph Kerner, the namesake for the town of Kernersville. Margaret graduated with a degree in Nursing from US Cadet Nursing Corps training at Columbia, SC Hospital on August 31, 1946. She was a licensed registered nurse for more than 80 years and spent numerous decades working in the medical field. Margaret was a lifelong member of Kernersville Moravian Church where she served on the board of elders among numerous other capacities. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Quinton Ray Burke, Jr.; son, Robah Kerner Burke; and sister, Mary Sue Sells. Margaret is survived by her children, Rev. Quinton Ray Burke, III (Kay) and Betty Burke Massey (Steve); grandchildren, Connie Hendricks Bradley (Eric), R.K. Burke, Jr., Charles Burke (Nikki), and Katie E. Moser (Drew); great-grandchildren, Cameron Hendricks, Charleigh Burke, Casen Burke, Ragan Ward, Chase Ward, Emma Grace Burke, and Bo Moser; and daughter-in-law, Deb Burke. A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Kernersville Moravian Church with Rev. Cheryl G. Cottingham officiating. Interment will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends following the committal service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Kernersville Moravian Church, 504 S. Main St., Kernersville, NC 27284. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is serving the family of Mrs. Burke.
