Margaret Lewis

Mrs. Margaret Fuquay Lewis, 86, of Winston-Salem passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at her residence. She was born on August 23, 1931 in Alamance County to Wade and Hazel Zachary Fuquay. Mrs. Lewis was a graduate of UNCG Women's College. She taught school in her early years before joining her husband in his accounting firm. She was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church and was the church secretary until very recently. She enjoyed traveling and was selfless. Mrs. Lewis was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, W. Penn Lewis, Jr. Surviving are one son, Gary Lewis; two daughters, Barbara Gowdy and husband Glenn, Susan Smith and husband Kenneth; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Lewis, Jessica Lewis, Wade Gowdy and wife Brittany, Hunter Gowdy, Zachary Gowdy, Christy Smith, Kelly Smith; one great grandson, Louis Gowdy; one brother, John Fuquay and wife Charlotte; two nephews, Michael and David Fuquay; her beloved cat, Scruffy. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Bret Cogan officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 1210 Bolton St., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
