Mrs. Margaret Howell Pope, 80, of Winston-Salem passed away August 15, 2008 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Mrs. Pope was born in Buncombe County to the late Clarence Dewey and Della Mae Ingle Howell on August 15, 1928. She was an active member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church. Mrs. Pope retired from the North Carolina School of the Arts with 20 years of service as the secretary to the Dean of the School of Design and Production. She was past national president of the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of WWI and a member of the Clemmons V.F.W. Post 9010. Mrs. Pope was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Willie James Pope. She is survived by three daughters Deborah Reeps and husband Wes of Winston-Salem; April Moffett and husband Colin of Albemarle, and Sherri Reich and husband Chuck of Thomasville and four grandchildren Stephanie and John David Moffett and Karissa and Miranda Dyer. A memorial service will be conducted 2:00 pm Monday at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church with Dr. Joe Collins and Dr. Harold Pope officiating. Inurnment will follow at the church columbarium. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Sunday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 4265 Ebert Rd.
