Margaret Wells Wiggins

Margaret Loretta Wells Wiggins, 92, passed away on February 22, 2026, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. Margaret was born on October 3, 1933, to Shelby Ray Wells and Lelli Vesti McCauley Wells in Greenville, KY. She was a resident of Winston-Salem for 57 years.
Margaret graduated from high school at age 16 and began working at Greenville City Hospital. She worked for General Electric twice, first from 1953 to 1959, and again from 1962 to 1963. She was a Welcome Wagon representative from 1973 to 1979. It was not unusual for her to bring a new arrival to the city home with her. She was employed by the Stroh’s Brewery Company as a tour guide in 1981 and later managed the gift shop and the public use meeting space at the Winston-Salem plant until it closed. She did some modeling and Special Shopper work at the mall, plus retail work.
Devoted to her family and their needs, she was a people person, comfortable talking to one stranger or to an audience of hundreds. She enjoyed playing bridge and being with the people that she played with, all of whom were special people like her.
A visitation will be held 1-3pm Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to: ALSAC/St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
