Mrs. Margie Lonsford Durie Faris, 95, of Winston-Salem, passed away Monday, August 7, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born June 22, 1922 in Wilkes County to Laura Prevette Lonsford and Ransom Boyden Lonsford. Mrs. Faris was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. Mrs. Faris was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Lawrence A. Durie; her second husband, Buford M. Faris; her siblings, Belle Burrus, Mamie Humphreys, Robert Hugh Lonsford, Joyce L. Speaks, Katie Phillips, Doris Matlock and Carolyn Tesh. Surviving are a daughter, Levonda Durie Leamon; one granddaughter, Melanie L. Goodson and husband Craig; two great grandchildren,
C. Madison Goodson and Logan D. Goodson and one great great granddaughter, Skylar Olivia Goodson. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Elizabeth Forrest officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. A private graveside service will be held in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice or to Unity Church of Winston-Salem. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
