Margie Thomas Pleasants

Mrs. Margie Thomas Pleasants, age 86 of Winston-Salem, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born December 9, 1927 in Pennsylvania County, VA. to Andrew and Annie Amos Thomas. Mrs. Pleasants was a member of Burkhead United Methodist Church and she had retired from Wake Forest University. She is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Norma Gillispie and Pat Hildabran. Surviving are her husband, Deane Pleasants; three children, Drew (Hazel) Pleasants, Ken (Donna) Pleasants and Lara (Kevin) Shelton; five grandchildren, Terri (Ed) Frappier, Erin Pleasants, Rachel Pleasants, Alex Shelton and Anna Shelton; three great grandchildren, Lauren, Mariah and Olivia Frappier and one brother, Joe Thomas and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Burkhead United Methodist Church by Rev. Dr. Susan Pillsbury-Taylor. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to, Burkhead United Methodist Church, 5250 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27106. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
