Mrs. Margie Lackey Wright of Rural Hall passed away November 4, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem after a period of declining health. She was born May 18, 1931 in Danville, VA the daughter of the late Fred A. Lackey and Marguerite Styers Lackey. Margie's love of flowers was evident from her yard. Her green thumb was also evident in the prolific tomatoes that Margie grew and loved to share with neighbors. She was an avid basketball fan and enjoyed particularly watching games and pulling for her favorite college team, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years in 1992, Robert Lee ""Pete"" Wright. Mrs. Wright is survived by her son, Robert Kent Wright and a grandson, Tristan A. Wright of Durham and two cousins, Tommy Griffin of Rural Hall and Fred Crumpler of Germanton. Mrs. Wright was a lifelong resident of Rural Hall, where she was loved by so many and admired for her kind and sweet manner, always known for her grace and gentle spirit. Among those who respected and loved Margie was her special friend of 14 years, Kenneth Smith of Rural Hall. A graveside service will be conducted 11:30 Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall with Rev. Sidney Lanier officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 this evening, November 6, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. In lieu of flowers memorials are asked to be made in Margie's memory to the church or charity of the donor's choice. Margie's family would like to thank all who helped her over the past several months during her illness.
