Margo Esther Jotzat Kovacs, 91, died on January 20, 2018, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Margo was born in Brooklyn, NY, on March 25, 1926, to Henry and Anna Jotzat. She enjoyed needle point, knitting, miniature models, and collecting western memorabilia such as pottery and jewelry. A talented seamstress, she designed and repaired clothing for her loved ones and always adorned her family in cozy coordinating pajamas for the holidays. She loved travelling and new experiences. Once, she travelled to New Mexico where she witnessed an archeological dig and ultimately fell with adoration for the Native American culture and community, particularly their emphasis on family, and respect for their elders. She felt great empathy for those who experienced misfortune and was absolutely heartbroken at the mistreatment of the Native American community. She loved being out west, and enjoyed attending the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta in Albequerque, NM, where she once went up in a hot air balloon and even dipped down into the Rio Grande River. She strived to live life to the fullest and didn't ask permission from anyone, she was truly one of a kind. She and her husband raised six children and although they worked opposite schedules, they were a force to be reckoned with. When it came to raising a family, they and the children worked together to maintain the household, neighboring wives recognized and admired the nonexistent gender roles of the Jotzat household. Reading and music were also passions of Margo, her daughter fondly remembers her mother reading and re-reading books, magazines, and newspapers. She often requested that Kathy pick up the CD's of some of the most relevant artists of today, Bruno Mars being one of her favorites. Above all, Margo was kind hearted and sentimental and she will be missed dearly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 40 years, Alexander Joseph Kovacs; one son, John Henry Kovacs; and one daughter, Marilyn Diane Kovacs. Surviving are two daughters, Kathy (Aaron) Crum and Maryann Frederick; one son, Robert (Kim) Kovacs; seven grandchildren, Krystal Ryan, Karrie Ryan, Christina Kovacs, John Kovacs, Jennifer Armstrong, Nichole Bannister, and Aaron Crum; and six great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Miami, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
