Maria Leonor DiFazio

Maria Leonor DiFazio, 58, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2025, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on July 10, 1966, in Pereira, Colombia, Maria was the cherished daughter of Roberto Botero Gaviria and Herminia Arango Ochoa. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and worked for many years in catering at Wake Forest University, where her warmth and dedication left a lasting impression.

Maria made her home in Pfafftown, NC, where she lived for over 20 years. She will be remembered for her strength, compassion, and joyful spirit. Her ability to connect deeply with others, her unwavering faith, and her genuine love for life were inspiring to everyone who knew her.

Above all, Maria was a devoted and loving mother. She is survived by her daughter, Estefania Henao; her son, Santiago Henao; and her husband, Rocco DiFazio. She loved her children unconditionally and was a constant source of support, wisdom, and love. Additionally, she was a caring, dedicated wife and loyal friend.

A funeral Mass to celebrate Maria’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 335 Springdale Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC 27104.
