Marie Brown Angel

Marie Brown Angel, 98, of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Trinity Elms.

Mrs. Angel was born April 25, 1927, in Stokes County, to the late Pink O. Brown and Jennie Young Brown. She attended Mineral Springs High School and graduated in the class of 1944. Marie married the love of her life, Bill Angel, on September 1, 1945, and they were together for 58 years until his passing in 2005. She retired from Joyce Brothers Company and was a member of Fries Memorial Moravian Church. Marie adored her family, especially her grandchildren. She also had wonderful sisters in-law whom she loved dearly. Marie was grateful for family reunions, appreciating the time spent with everyone all together. She also never passed up shopping trips or bus trips with family and friends. Marie had a sweet spirit and was quiet, pleasant, and friendly to all. She never let life get her down and handled everything with grace. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, John “Bill” Angel; her son, William Leon Angel; one sister, Essie B. Atwood; two brothers, Matthew Brown, and Roscoe Brown; and one grandson, Kevin Nathan Haggard.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Wanda McGill (Jack); two grandsons, Donovan Angel, and Tommy Tolley (Kendra); two great-granddaughters, Alyssa Duke (Jacob), and Christina Horne (Holden); and two great-great-grandchildren, Deacon Duke, and Dawson Duke.

A funeral service will be held 12 PM Friday, August 29, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Lomax Skinner officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory.

The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
