Marie Durham

Mrs. Marie Huffman Durham, 76, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born on October 19, 1940, to Arthur Ray Huffman and Sadie Purdy Huffman in Lynchburg, VA. Marie was a loving and supportive mother. She encouraged her children in all of their sporting events, especially competitive go-cart racing. She was a member of First Christian Church, Clemmons. Marie enjoyed traveling with the "Tree-loaders," collecting Hallmark ornaments from around the country. Her deep love of the mountains developed into an appreciation of mountain people and culture. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Tucson Durham, Sr. Surviving are her children, Missy Gearren (Steven) of Clemmons, Tucson Durham, Jr. (Linda), and Mike Durham of the home; as well as grandchildren, Stacy Ferguson (Javen), Justin Durham (Janel), Brittany Gearren, and Morgan Gearren. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM, Friday, October 6, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Bob McCaskill officiating. Memorials may be made to Christian Appalachian Project
