Marie Wall Kimel

Marie Wall Kimel, 88,of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at her home. 

She was born on January 11, 1938, to the late Casper Giles Wall and Mabel Irene Sappenfield Wall in Forsyth County, NC. 

Marie was a talented homemaker who could sew just about anything. Her hobbies included bowling and square dancing. More than all, she loved spending time with family and friends at Myrtle Beach, and sharing the gossip with MBTP partner-in-crime, “Cathy D.” 

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Buddy Kimel; her sisters, Boots Draughon, Gaye Wood, and Dot Wall; and her brother, Bob Wall. 

Those left to cherish her memory include her two daughters, Terri Butcher (Greg) and Toni Kimel; special grandson, Shane Butcher; special beach friend, Cathy Dawkins; grandcats, Apolo and Belle; along with several special nieces, nephews, and friends. 

The family extends special thanks to the staff of Trellis Supportive Care and Novant Palliative Care Unit for their excellent care, and to Charlie Patrick for his encouraging visits and prayerful support. 

A casual visitation will be held from 1:30 PM-3:30 PM, Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
