Marie Craver Morgan

In the quiet, unassuming manner she lived her earthly life, Marie Craver Essick Morgan, 94, entered her heavenly home on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at 12:15 am.

A funeral service will be held at Arcadia United Methodist Church on Tuesday, December 23 at 2 pm with Rev. Steve Craver and Pastor Lynn Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

On June 17, 1920, Marie was born in Davidson County to Meridith E. Craver and Jennie Woosley Craver. She loved her church where she taught Sunday School, was President of the Methodist Women, served as receiving treasurer for many years and in September of 2014 was awarded the Laity Service Award by the Western North Carolina Conference. She was also active in the Order of the Eastern Star.

Marie was predeceased by her parents; husbands, Edgar Essick and H.N. (Pop) Morgan; children, James Morgan and Lillian Isley; brothers, Everette, Fred, Homer Reed, Glen, Paul and Joseph Craver; sisters, Pearl Craver, Ruth Cornell and Fannie Ritch. Surviving her are 3 daughters, Frances Brooks (Jack), Jean Bryan (Bill) and Helen Doss (Steve); 3 sons, Howard Morgan (JoAnn), Jason Morgan, and Richard Morgan. Marie also had 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren. Marie also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who gathered with her several times each year to celebrate.

Memorials may be given to Arcadia United Methodist Church, N NC Hwy 150, Clemmons, NC 27012 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
