Marie Pender Neal

KERNERSVILLE - Ona Marie Pender Neal, age 90, born on March 8^th, 1933, to Clay Henry and Violet Childress Pender, went to sleep in Jesus on Monday, October 23^rd, 2023. Marie passed away peacefully and was surrounded by her family at Kernersville Medical Center.

Marie attended Kernersville High School and graduated in 1952. She worked at Southern Silk Mill until she enrolled in Forsyth Tech to become a nurse. Marie took pride in her nursing career and blessed the lives of many others through this work for over forty years. Marie was a faithful servant in Christ’s kingdom speaking the name of Jesus wherever she went.  Marie was a member of the Kernersville Seventh-day Adventist Church since 1963, serving many offices in the church throughout the years. She loved her church and each member.

Marie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Sam (Junior) Neal. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by parents, and brothers, James, Donnie, and Clay Henry Pender, and sister, Julia Pender. She is survived by her loving brothers, Phillip Pender, and Arnold Pender, a sister, Barbara Ramey; beloved daughters, Lynn Neal (husband, Danny Ray Johnson) and Donna Neal (husband, Thomas J Kelly); granddaughter, Victoria Marie Cotton (Maxwell Cotton) and grandson, Samuel Edward Ray Johnson (Brooke Baldwin); five great grandchildren, Lily Marie Lynn Whaley, Dani Rose Cotton, Maxwell Blake Cotton Jr, Salem Neal Johnson, and Brady Ray Johnson; and three step grandsons, Landon, Jonathen, and Quinlan Kelly.

The funeral will be held at 3pm Saturday, October 28^th, 2023, at the Kernersville Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Ralph Henderson officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Friday October 27, 2023, at the Hayworth Miller Funeral Home in Kernersville.
