Marie Mae Mabe Nichols

Ms. Marie Mae Mabe Nichols of Davie County, NC, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026. Born to the late Maude “Iola” Mabe and Howard Mabe, she was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.

Ms. Nichols is survived by her children, Diana Jean Vestal, Sheila Hanes (Jonathan), and Neil Nichols; grandchildren, Donnie, Dana, Isabella, and Fiona; nieces, Tammie Maat, Pamela Locklear (Mark), and their children Jenna, Nicholas, and Brianna; her great grandchildren; and Gray McClamrock, who was like a son to Marie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by her son, Terry Nichols; son-in-law, Don Vestal; a brother, James Mabe; a sister, Judith Spaugh; a special aunt, Pearl “Pauline” Dudley; and her longtime companion, Jack McClamrock.

Marie loved her family deeply and she will be dearly missed.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Forsyth Memorial Park with Rev. Randy Isom officiating. There will be no formal visitation held.

Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the family of Ms. Nichols.
