Marie Whicker

Kernersville- Marie Holt Whicker, 92, passed away Friday, October 25, 2019 at Brookdale Senior Living.  Marie was born on February 8, 1927 in Guilford County to Emmet and Geneva Pegram Holt.  She was a member of Goodwill Baptist Church.  She owned a successful business, Whicker's Florist for over 40 years.  In addition to her parents and 9  brothers and sisters,  Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Newton Eugene Whicker.  Surviving are her son, Ronald E. Whicker, Sr. (Mary) of Greenville; her daughter, Wanda Smoot (Keith) of Kernersville; three grandchildren, Ronald Whicker Jr., Elizabeth Marie Royal (Wes), and Katie Smoot Dyche (Richard); two great grandchildren, Avery Dyche and Savannah Royal.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, October 28, 2019 at Goodwill Baptist Church with Pastor Greg Mullis officiating.  Burial will follow at the church cemetery.  Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to www.dementiasociety.org
