Mrs. Marjorie Faye Lanier, 88, of Pfafftown, N.C went to be with the Lord on May 10th, Mother’s Day, surrounded by family members and friends in the place she loved most, her home.
She was born April 22nd 1938 to the late Kenneth and Kate Davis of Winston-Salem N.C. Marge was happily reunited in Heaven with her devoted husband, Richard William Lanier. Surviving are her children Gina Vonderborn, James David Lanier (Stacey) John Q. Lanier (Jaquie) and Shana Jarrett (Adam) Seven grandchildren: Jacey, Josiah, Micah, Colby, Jayna, Jordan and Katelyn; as well as three great children and her brother Joesph Davis (Wanda)
Marge was proud of her work at U.S.Geological Survey and The Department of the Interior. Her faith was an important part of her life, and through Pender United Methodist Church (Fairfax, VA) and Brookstown United Methodist Church, she formed many lasting friendships. She was known for her homemade rolls, a favorite at holiday events at both churches over the years. Some occasions she lovingly baked up to 5,000 rolls. Marge loved her family and friends, always put their needs over her own. She loved visiting the Outer Banks, especially with her late husband and dear friends, the late Tom and Peggy Mcdonald, with whom they shared a beach house for many years. Family and friends cherish the wonderful memories they made together while enjoying the sunshine and sound of the waves along the shore.
A celebration of life service will be held at Brookstown UMC on Saturday May 23rd at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brookstown UMC.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Mandy, Cassie, Mel and Sarah for the exceptional care, kindness, friendship, and dedication they provided to Marge. Their compassion and support brought great comfort to her and her family. Their presence will always be deeply appreciated.
