Marlene Bruno

Marlene Gail Bruno passed from this earth into Heaven peacefully at home with her family at her side.  She had a long battle with MSA, Multiple System Atrophy, an illness much like Parkinson's disease.  Marlene was born on May 15, 1943 in Hartford CT to Josephine and Samuel Gigliotti.  Marlene moved with her husband and children to Winston Salem in 1981.  Marlene was a strong Christian who loved the Lord and she was very active with her church family at Calvary Baptist Church.  She enjoyed singing in the church choir for thirty years and working in the church office.  Marlene was a great homemaker who loved to cook and garden and who provided a wonderful godly environment for the upbringing of her children. Marlene is survived by her husband of 53 years, Rocco D. Bruno and her sister Miriam Demilio of Danbury Ct.; also surviving are her children, Jason Bruno and wife, Christy and her grandson Mason of Collierville, TN, Tara Lipka and her grandchildren Ian and Chloe of Winston Salem and Gregory Bruno and wife, Stephanie and her grandchildren Nick and Erin of New Bern, NC.  The family extends their gratitude to all Marlene's friends for their many visits and the food they brought throughout her long illness.  A special thanks to Connie for her faithfulness in reading to Marlene every week and to Jane for her weekly card. The family also wishes to acknowledge the good work of Hospice and our thanks to the many caregivers from Bayada Home Health Care for the loving care they provided during Marlene's illness.  A special thanks to Kasandra, our long- time aide, who gave great care to Marlene seven days a week including holidays.  A graveside service will be held for family and friends on Wednesday October 3 at 2:00 PM at Forsyth Memorial Park, section 13, right at main entrance.  In lieu of flowers or if you wish to gift in memory of Marlene, please give to the Hurricane Florence Relief Fund at Temple Baptist Church, 1500 Kingdom Way, New Bern, NC, 28560 or at www.temple.church as they are assisting the victims of hurricane Florence.  Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the Bruno family.
