Marshall Strader

Marshall Wayne Strader, 71, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 18, 2018 at his residence. He was born on August 7, 1946 in Forsyth County to Max Holt and Juanita Vogler Strader.

Marshall Wayne was a 1965 graduate of RJ Reynolds High School, 1967 graduate of Mitchell College, and a 1969 graduate of Appalachian University.

His career path led him to Pinebrook Elementary School in Davie County, where he taught for 14 years. Mr. Strader left his teaching career to pursue his dream of opening Strader's Pizza, were he proudly served customers for many years, from multiple locations. Later, Marshall was the loving caregiver to his mother until her death.

Marshall Wayne had a passion for fishing and camping with his family and friends. His love of music, took him to singing in his church choir and at several local retirement facilities. He was an accomplished guitarist and banjo player and loved attending The Annual Harper Vanhoy Fiddler's convention with family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Marshall was preceded in death by his wife, Loyola Strader. He is survived by his devoted son, Greg B. Strader of Davie County; his caring, significant other, Ramona Brown; his only grandson, Bradley Strader of Louisville, KY; a brother, Max H. Strader (wife, Sonya) of Charlotte, NC; three very special nephews; and many friends.

Marshall and Ramona were members of the Elks Lodge and often frequented many places, including Mac & Nelli's in Winston-Salem.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Peace Haven Baptist Church with Rev. Nathan Parrish officiating. The family will receive friends at 6:00 pm prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, at 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103, or a charity of the donor's choice. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek is assisting the family.
