Martha Jane Barr Meadows

Martha Jane Barr Meadows, 95, of Stanleyville, passed away February 6, 2016. She was born to James Silas Barr and Alice Simmons Barr on January 29, 1921 in the Mountain View Community near King. She graduated from King High School class of 1938. She retired from Sara Lee (Hanes Hosiery) after 30 years of service. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, James Silas Barr, Jr. and Isaac Coleman Barr, her sisters, Mary Katherine Barr New and Adelaide Barr Ashe. Two of her children, Stephen Raeford Cromer and Brenda Cromer Johnson, her grandparents, Isaac and Laura Jane Kiser Barr and Coleman and Martha Jessup Simmons (Westfield) and a nephew, Michael Ashe. She is survived by her children, Dottie Meadows Motley (Bernie), Leslie Meadows and Ronnie Meadows (Dixie). Her grandchildren, Grant Meadows (Jessica), Bryan Meadows (Rachel), and Robert Meadows. Her great-granddaughter, Vella Reese Marie Meadows. She is also survived by several nephews and nieces, Pricilla New Johnson, Barry Ashe (Frances), Dr. Terry Ashe (Gloria), Marilyn New Reavis (Sammie), Sherri Barr Koteles (Tak) and James Silas Barr III. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall. Burial will follow in Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: First Baptist Church of Stanleyville, 851 Ziglar Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27105 or Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1042 Mountain View Rd., King, NC 27021. The family would like to give a special thank you to the entire staff of Village Care of King for their love and care. They would also like to thank all of the people who visited, sent cards, flowers and candy the last 3 years.
