Martha Nifong Walsh

LEWISVILLE
Martha Ann Nifong Walsh, 84, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 27, 2016. She was born January 9, 1932 in Lewisville. Mrs. Walsh was the daughter of Mary Jane Binkley Nifong and Clyde Roy Nifong, Sr. She was a graduate of Lewisville High School and loved playing basketball. She was a member of Lewisville United Methodist Church for seventy years where she was very active with the United Methodist Women, her Sunday School class and various volunteer opportunities. Mrs. Walsh retired from Wachovia Bank. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her brothers Clyde Roy Nifong, Jr. and Jacob (Jake) Nifong. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Robert L. Walsh, Jr.; her sister, Cordelia (Pat) Wishon; and four children, Donna Walsh Stanford and husband Gordon of Jarrell, Texas and East Bend; Benny Walsh (Teresa Hiatt) of Lowgap, NC; Diane Walsh Harper of Clemmons, and Robert L. Walsh III and wife Tamara of Clemmons, NC; thirteen grandchildren, Zachary Stanford, Gus Stanford, Jim (Angela) Agner, Ray Agner, Olivia Walsh, Amelia Walsh, September Harper, Amber (Jamie) Street, Cannon Harper, Patrick Harper, Robert ""Robby"" Walsh IV, Chase Walsh, and Austin Walsh; and seven great-grandchildren, Nicole Agner, Breanna Harper, Kaylen Street, William Barber, Brock Joyner, Blake Harper and Savannah Harper. She is also survived by numerous loving sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews. Martha's entire life focused on family, church and friends. She always gave more of herself than what was required. She inspired us all to live our lives the way she lived hers, with joy and laughter. In the process, she became a large part of the lives of everyone who knew her. She played the hand that she was dealt with grace and dignity. She leaves us with the same quiet ease and comfort that she always brought with her, a life well lived. ""For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith."" 2 Timothy: 4,6,7. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00PM Tuesday, November 29th, at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 30th, at Lewisville United Methodist Church with Dr. Ivan Peden officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
