Marvin Richard Motsinger

WINSTON SALEM- Marvin Richard Motsinger, died Thursday, February 13, 2014. He was born in Forsyth Co. to the late Ira L. and Dora Mae Jones Motsinger.

Mr. Motsinger attended Sedge Garden School, Wingate College and Wake Forest College. He served in the United States Military and briefly played professional baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Yankees. Mr. Motsinger was previously employed by the NCR Company. In 1974 he began the Richard M. Motsinger Paper Company, which he operated until his death. Mr. Motsinger enjoyed meeting and talking with people. He was also a good listener and always made people feel comfortable.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Bernice Motsinger, Edna Motsinger Wooten, and Linda Motsinger Harlan; sister-in-law, Margie Wilson Motsinger; and brothers, A.C. Motsinger and Willis Motsinger.

Surviving are his wife, Kathryn Lambert Motsinger; one son, Steve Motsinger of Kernersville; a daughter, Laura Jennings, and son-in-law, Willliam Jennings of Broomfield, CO; brothers, Carl Motsinger (Nanci) of High Point, Earl Motsinger (Sylvia) of Concord, Dr. H.M. Motsinger (Nancy) of Dallas, TX; sisters, Frances Motsinger Spach of Kernersville, Nancy Motsinger Idol of Greensboro; and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 17, 2014 at Oaklawn Baptist Church, 3500 Kernersville Road, Winston-Salem. Burial will follow in Sedge Garden United Methodist Church Cemetery, 794 Sedge Garden Road, Kernersville. The family will receive friends from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Oaklawn Baptist Church, 3500 Kernersville Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
