Mary Ann Hennessy Petroccia

Mary Ann Hennessy Petroccia, 71, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2026, at her home while in the loving care of her devoted husband and family. She was born February 15, 1955, in East Orange, New Jersey, to the late George and Gertrude (Banks) Hennessy. She grew up in Glen Ridge, New Jersey and attended East Orange Catholic High School. Her family moved to Clemmons in 1995, and she later retired after years of service as a CNA at The Elms at Tanglewood. She was a longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Mary Ann loved taking cruises and often shared fond memories of spending summers with her cousins and family at the Jersey Shore in her younger years. She was known for always having a smile on her face and a love of laughter, deeply valuing family and the friendships she made throughout her life. A devoted wife and mother, she dedicated much of her time and energy to caring for her late son, Michael. She also lovingly cared for her late mother-in-law, Pia, with whom she shared a special and close bond. Mary Ann was immensely proud of her daughter, Jackie, and son-in-law, Brent but above all else, her greatest joy was being "Grammy" to her beloved grandson, Theo. Whether she was spoiling him, caring for him, or giving the world's greatest tuck-ins, she treasured every moment they shared together. Preceding her in death was her beloved son, Michael John Petroccia. Surviving is her husband of 47 years, John Theodore Petroccia, whom she had known and loved for more than 50 years; daughter, Jacqueline Frederick (Brent); grandson, Theo Frederick; brother, Michael Hennessy (Kathleen); several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her best friend of over 20 years, Teresa Hutchens.

A funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, June 19, 2026, at Holy Family Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. The family would like to extend deepest gratitude to Kim and Celeste with Well Care Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Mary Ann, as well as her wonderful neighbors whose friendship, kindness, and support meant so much to her and her family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
