Mary Ann Searcy, 97, of Winston-Salem, passed away Friday, May 29, 2026, at Brookridge Retirement Community.
Mrs. Searcy was born January 5, 1929, in Buckingham County, Virginia, to Albert Keel Childress and Mayme Catherine Newton Childress. She completed a business course at Draughn’s Business College and a Nursing Assistant’s Class at Forsyth Technical Community College before working at Bocock-Stroud for 17 years. Later, Mary retired from Lab Corp after several years of service. She was very dedicated to her church, First Pentecostal Holiness Church, as a former member of the choir and Women’s Ministries, Corresponding Secretary for Fellowship Sunday School Class, and a member of the Senior Adult Club. Mary was also a lifetime member of the 4-H Club All Stars and a Seamstress for over 50 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reuel Clement Searcy; her son, Donald Grady Searcy; and her brother, Joseph Albert Childress.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter in-law, Remedios “Remy” Cordeta; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 12PM Thursday, June 11, 2026, at First Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Tres Ward officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
A graveside service will be held 10AM Monday, June 22, 2026, at Forsyth Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Pentecostal Holiness Church 998 Hutton St. Winston-Salem, NC 27101
