Mary Magdalene Maggie" Carroll

RURAL HALL - Mrs. Mary Magdalene ""Maggie"" Carroll, 85, of Stanleyville Dr. passed away Sunday, October 4, 2009, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Maggie was born in Surry County on June 28, 1924. She was the daughter of the late John Martin and Mary Frances Cunningham Key. Maggie enjoyed time spent with family and friends, working in her flowers and cooking and taking care of her family. She was a kind and loving person who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Maggie graduated from Germanton School and was a member of Germanton Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Versie Merritt and Pansy Wolfe; and a brother, Heber Key. She leaves behind her husband of 63 years, Algra Columbus Carroll of the home; two sons, Steve Carroll and wife Beth, and David Carroll of King; two grandchildren, Maria Carroll and Wesley Carroll and wife Ashley; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at Germanton Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Collins and Rev Justin Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The Carroll family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Germanton Baptist Church, 6810 S. Germanton Road, Germanton, NC 27019 or to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to thank Gail and Sue for the care given Mrs. Carroll while she was at home. Thank you to her doctors and nurses at Forsyth Medical Center and a special thanks to the staff and nurses at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for the kind and compassionate care given to Mrs. Carroll and her family.
